Everyday Gratitude

Image
Dear Diary, It's been a long time since I wrote this way. I forgot so soon how writing or chatting with a friend feels like. Today, I am grateful for; Love I am grateful for self care and self acceptance. I am grateful for happiness. I am grateful for peace. I am grateful for life. I am grateful for living life at 25. Some days, it is happy, fun, interesting, entertaining while some days, it is dark, sad, gloomy and bitter. I love every bit of the journey. I have learnt a lot from others especially from my parents and older sister. I am grateful I have food on my table and water to drink. I am grateful for healing. I am grateful for growth. I am grateful for everything. Elizabeth Diaries ❤️

HOW TO SURVIVE DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY AND HOME

Image
In this article, I won't say leave your abusive home, run away from your parents or start living in isolation. No! I can't do that. This advice you see or read on the internet or watch people say is so hard to do. Damn so hard! Especially when you are a minor, dependant, no job, no savings, very broke and even hopeless. I have had my own share of the experience so I can tell how difficult that is. And again, no matter how bad your family is, don't go telling everyone how terrible your family is. Don't be vulnerable with everyone. Don't point fingers, other fingers would be pointing back at you. So be matured, act matured, heal in a matured way.  I know how pained, hurt, broken you are, but heal your pains the right way so you won't have things bouncing back or backfiring at you. I am saying this from experience and I wish you a healthy healing. One thing I keep saying to anyone who has been abused is that, it's not your fault to be born into dysfunctionality

BE INTENTIONAL

Image
I say this again and again. Be intentional about anything you want in life. Be intentional about your journey, your dreams, your wants and your healing. Along my healing journey, I discovered the power of intentions. Say what you want and stick to it. Do what you want to do and stick to it. Be consistent at it. Choose what makes you happy and that which fulfills you. Don't chose anything for yourself because a friend said so, your parents said so or everyone said so. Do things with intention. Have a purpose and the reason you do the things you do. Focus! Always focus. There are a whole lot of distractions out there that can make you stumble if you are not focused. Be intentional about your healing. Personally, I had to say no to dating and marriage until I healed completely. I don't want to repeat the mistakes I saw my mother or any other woman did. I want peace and calmness. This is why I take my education seriously and dedicate years to building up myself. I can't imagin

BATTLING MENTAL ILLNESS

Image
I knew I needed a counselor, a therapist, a psychiatrist or a psychologist when I got through with secondary school and had to wait another year to rewrite my JAMB 2013 to 2015. My stay at home wasn't really a good one and even 2018 when I was done with my university, stayed at home for over two years and waited for my convocation so I could go for NYSC.  I didn't have a job or a skill to keep me busy. I was so frustrated and stuck at home with my Nigerian parents. And you probably would know how it feels to graduate from school and have nothing doing while still feeding from parents. 2018- 2020 were the years I felt depressed, sad, frustrated and started having thoughts of suicide. My parents loved me but they weren't you understanding as I wanted them to be. Gosh! The frustrations, anxiety disorder and depression almost took my life. I didn't know what to do with my life anymore. I kept running from house to house looking for safety and love but no one was ready to a

BLOGS I LOVE READING

Image
I discovered a new hobby, reading blogs. Surfing the internet and reading personal blogs is my new found hobby. I feel inspired and encouraged reading the lives of others especially a diary, journal or personal blogs. And I do lots of research online too. Every morning, I peep through www.makingsenseofcent.com. Making Sense of Cent is a personal finance blog owned by Micheal. She started the blog to document her student loan debt. I enjoy visiting her site even now than ever when I read she is pregnant and would be expecting her baby in December. I am super excited and waiting to see her beautiful baby. Another blog I visit is www.Bellanaija.com. A lifestyle and entertainment blog owned by Uche Pedro. In her blog, you see beautiful brides, happily ever after marriage and beautiful Nigerian weddings and couples. One thing I love about Bella Naija is her positivity towards marriage. Even though many marriages today are collapsing, she till put up beautiful and lovely stories of marriage.

Everyday Gratitude

Image
Today I am grateful for life. I am grateful for good health. I am grateful for peace. Just being happy without anything being responsible for it. I am grateful for all the things I have in my life. I am grateful for my friends and the good people I have around me. I am grateful for love. I haven't found one yet but I am grateful. I am grateful for slow living. Waking up everyday, not rushing over anything and just living. So far, the feeling is wonderful. And I learned to trust God through the frustrations, obstacles, fears, tears and rejections. In my life I have seen the power of God. This is why I keep myself for Him and stay faithful to Him. No matter who I turn out to be, I will be grateful to God. I have gone through a lot already but each day, I thank God that those obstacles, bitterness and frustrations never took my life. I kept living. So everyday I live, breathe and see a new day, I give God praises.  Elizabeth Diaries ❤️

Life during the holiday

Image
I have rested and rested enough. I wake up, sleep, eat and repeat same the next day. I would have gone to take the children on holiday lessons but the distance and the transportation has been so much for me. I can't continue that way again. I start searching for schools close by. Looking at my finances, I have really spent lots of money on transportation. My whole salary goes to transportation and it's draining me. I don't have any savings for myself neither can I do anything good with my pay apart from buying my personal stuff. A month I spend over 10k on transportation. So I really want to reduce cost and spend less. So, let's see what happens as life goes on. I will be keeping account of money I spend a month. I believe everything will be well with God's grace. THE FIRST EXPERIENCE

Image
Elizabethokondiaries.blogspot.com The night before 31st July got us really thinking. Of death, of damages and just anything negative. All along, our minds had never rested. Same topic every month until it became depressing. My sister was diagnosed of fibroid and until the fibroid was taken out, she would have been constantly disturbed. This was the first time of going through such thing. A fibroid. Though my father had an operation about four years ago but it was hyena, not fibroid. So, we were so scared. The whole family was scared. Even though she had tried the local medicine of fibroid removal, none actually worked. She kept spending resources until she decided to be operated on. On the morning of the operation day, my mother prayed so hard. In fact she started crying even after they had booked a professional doctor who specializes on operation, she was still scared. My anxiety increased since I am so allergic to negativity. I kept on assuring myself that all will be well. The ope

Everyday Gratitude

Elizabethokondiaries.blogspot.com Today I am grateful for life. I am grateful I am single. And I don't have a serious responsibility apart from taking care of myself and blogging my experiences. I am grateful I am able to love myself, accept my flaws, my body size and shape and my skin colour. I am grateful for my family member who had a successful operation. This is a story for another day. I shall share the story with you all soon. I have nothing really going on in my life but I am grateful for the life I have in me. I am grateful for embracing slow living. I am grateful for the holidays. I eat, relax, rest, sleep, blog, cook, wash, clean, chat, and take it over the next day. I have been to the hospital and I have witnessed that life is worth living. And you won't appreciate life and good health until you are inflicted with pains and sickness. A young girl was operated on. She had appendicitis, another fibroid, another a baby. And they all went successful. So I am really grat

HOW TO SLEEP WELL

Image
Elizabethokondiaries.blogspot.com Sleep has a great impact on health. Inadequate sleep may cause problems to us. Emotionally, mentally, financially and otherwise. So it's good we have a peaceful and sound sleep daily. But for that to be possible, you have to make it work. Below are the ways you can get a good sleep. Make your environment clean Brush your mouth Take a bath or shower Sleep on clean bedsheets and pillowcases Eat less at night Put off all technologies and social media Play a love song Let go of all negativity and worries Meditate and pray Write all your worries and problems in a journal Avoid wearing tight nightwear Use mosquito net, use an insecticide and disinfect the house from mosquitoes  To avoid dirt and mosquitoes, keep your environment clean. With a clean room, a clean space, clean bedsheets, a clean pillowcase you have a peaceful sleep. I literally sleep so well the day I make my room clean, wash my clothes and bedsheets. I sleep like a baby. So sanitation day

THE FIRST ITEMS I BUY WHEN I GET PAID

Image
Elizabethokondiaries.blogspot.com Good news! Last week Thursday I got paid. Even though my salary is so low, at least it is better than doing nothing or staying idle all day at home or being broke. So, since I came back from Bauchi State, I have been working as a teacher. And I love it because it gives me enough time, besides education was what I studied in the university. Each time I get my pay. The first thing I do is getting my personal stuff. Yesterday I was at the market purchasing items I would use. The first items I buy when I get my salary are; Sanitary pad. Now, pads are so expensive and I go for the not expensive ones. I use Molped Sanitary Pad. Tissue paper Toothpaste. I use Oral B toothpaste. So far it's been good. Body cream. I am not so much into organic creams. The cream I use on my body is Vaseline. Fressia Perfumed Petroleum Jelly.  Bathing soap. I use Fresh Glow which contains turmeric and sandalwood. Body spray Detergents and laundry soap Face powder These are th

HOW TO STOP WORRYING

Image
Elizabethokondiaries.blogspot.com There are a lot of things in this world and even in our personal lives that can make us worry so much. And most times we worry so much until our blood pressure rises and lead us into a bigger health issue. The truth is that, you can worry a whole day, month and years and nothing really changes except you take action or exercise patience. Below are the ways in which you can stop worrying. Love yourself Show gratitude Don't make promises Avoid debts Do what you can Be patient Practice slow living Accept your flaws Forgive yourself and anyone that wronged you. Spend less time with toxicity.  Don't be over dependent on someone Loving yourself means you accept yourself for who you are. You love everything about yourself and you try to change a behaviour if need be. Have a gratitude journal where you list out the good things you love about yourself everyday. And even those qualities you hate in you. Keep a journal, document your journey and show grat
