BE INTENTIONAL

Image
I say this again and again. Be intentional about anything you want in life. Be intentional about your journey, your dreams, your wants and your healing. Along my healing journey, I discovered the power of intentions. Say what you want and stick to it. Do what you want to do and stick to it. Be consistent at it. Choose what makes you happy and that which fulfills you. Don't chose anything for yourself because a friend said so, your parents said so or everyone said so. Do things with intention. Have a purpose and the reason you do the things you do. Focus! Always focus. There are a whole lot of distractions out there that can make you stumble if you are not focused. Be intentional about your healing. Personally, I had to say no to dating and marriage until I healed completely. I don't want to repeat the mistakes I saw my mother or any other woman did. I want peace and calmness. This is why I take my education seriously and dedicate years to building up myself. I can't imagin...

BLOGS I LOVE READING

Image
I discovered a new hobby, reading blogs. Surfing the internet and reading personal blogs is my new found hobby. I feel inspired and encouraged reading the lives of others especially a diary, journal or personal blogs. And I do lots of research online too. Every morning, I peep through www.makingsenseofcent.com. Making Sense of Cent is a personal finance blog owned by Micheal. She started the blog to document her student loan debt. I enjoy visiting her site even now than ever when I read she is pregnant and would be expecting her baby in December. I am super excited and waiting to see her beautiful baby. Another blog I visit is www.Bellanaija.com. A lifestyle and entertainment blog owned by Uche Pedro. In her blog, you see beautiful brides, happily ever after marriage and beautiful Nigerian weddings and couples. One thing I love about Bella Naija is her positivity towards marriage. Even though many marriages today are collapsing, she till put up beautiful and lovely stories of marriage....

HOW TO STOP WORRYING

Image
Elizabethokondiaries.blogspot.com There are a lot of things in this world and even in our personal lives that can make us worry so much. And most times we worry so much until our blood pressure rises and lead us into a bigger health issue. The truth is that, you can worry a whole day, month and years and nothing really changes except you take action or exercise patience. Below are the ways in which you can stop worrying. Love yourself Show gratitude Don't make promises Avoid debts Do what you can Be patient Practice slow living Accept your flaws Forgive yourself and anyone that wronged you. Spend less time with toxicity.  Don't be over dependent on someone Loving yourself means you accept yourself for who you are. You love everything about yourself and you try to change a behaviour if need be. Have a gratitude journal where you list out the good things you love about yourself everyday. And even those qualities you hate in you. Keep a journal, document your journey and show grat...

WHY I STAY ANONYMOUS

I dislike noise. I want to be heard, but not seen. It is very okay for me that way. I am a shy person who sees noise and attention as distractions. This way I can't be a celebrity. I run far away from it each time. Because first, I won't be allowed to be human. Everyone's eyes and attention will be on me and that isn't really cool. And at a point you will try so well to protect yourself and get security. You can't even be safe. So, I like the everyday life where I go my way, do my thing, I don't have headaches and nobody else has headaches. I can work anywhere and nobody comes to tell me, “You are our role model, what do you do here?" And the internet has so much provided me with such life, even though I chose to remain anonymous. Now, I am concerned about self-care and mental health. It is not easy to be perfect but I try my best to be a good human being to my fellow human. I realized that the only thing that excites me is blogging. With the fear, anxiety ...

NIGERIA AND THE WHITE RACE

I have always imagined how a mixed race looks like. I have imagined a Nigerian get married to a white man and the beautiful children thereof. The other day on Facebook, I saw a South African woman married to a Korean man with seven beautiful children from the marriage. You know, my thoughts have always been on the adaptation of culture, place and food. Mostly food and weather. I kept wondering how on earth can a Korean man love an African woman. Well, I am not surprise. Things happen. I love seeing mixed race. It's absolutely beautiful. I know a boy whose father is from Egypt and his mother, a Nigerian. He has lived in Nigeria right from his birth and would be going to Egypt when he reaches 18 years. And this boy looks so handsome and smart. I have also wondered if these men are abusive like some of our African men. Because on pictures they look so nice and real. Do they also eat African meals? I am yet to read stories of Africans, Nigerians who got married to the white race.  How ...

Consistency works

Self-care

Self-care days are happy days. The day I wash all my clothes clean, make everywhere clean, get sunlight, shave my armpits and everywhere that requires shaving is my most happy day. Elizabeth Diaries ❤️

Relaxing

Sometimes you plug the earphone, you put the music loud and truly relax. Make yourself happy. Worry less. You won't love to die of hypertension. Take a deep breath in and out. Take another breath. Again and again. Some other thing I find relaxing is meditation. My meditation is praying the rosary. I pray the rosary every time, especially when I am so stressed up and it is so relaxing. So grateful to Dr. Thema

Image
I won't fail to acknowledge Dr. Thema in my Diary. I love her. I love how she does her work passionately at Twitter. She saves life. And she has saved mine. Everyday, early in the morning I log on Twitter to go read what she has to say for the day. Since the day I discovered her page and followed her, I was glad I did. She talks to us in ways we understand. She mends our heart, minds and soul. So, today I give her a special place in my Diary. I found a safe space in her. Her words soothes my broken heart.  Elizabeth Diaries ❤️

Gratitude Day 11/24

Dear Diary, Wednesday, 10th March 2021 10:21pm Nigerian Time 🇳🇬 Dear Diary, today I am thanking God for a glowing skin and adding a little weight. I am happy and at peace with myself. I drank lots of water and took fruits consistently for five months. It is really showing in my skin and body. Today, I dropped an application letter in a school seeking for a job. I hope they take me. Yesterday I had to walk miles away from home in search of school and organisation that has vacancy. It has not been easy. Life after NYSC is definitely not easy. Looking for a job is not easy. Let me rest and be grateful for life. Tomorrow is another day. The job hustle is real. I will keep the story for some other day. May the day break. I am so tired. Don't rush

Dear Diary, Saturday, 6th March 2021 10:42pm Nigerian Time 🇳🇬 I love writing at this hour. At this hour everyone is settled on bed and everywhere is quiet, except for the generator's noise. I have pretty been shocked or surprised for rushing or jumping into something. I feel, life shouldn't be rushed. Especially in moment of trauma and pains. In moment when you are hopeless and no one can comfort or fill the empty vacuum. I feel, life shouldn't be rushed in moment of trials, denial and betrayals. Life needs time. Time reveals all good things and condemns evil. Time heals just as writing heals. Life has taught me to be patient. Nothing last forever. A little time cold, a little time warmer. Things fade away so easily.  I won't rush anything. I will take my time and see what life unfolds for me. I will give myself time to be happy and time to be sad. Time to heal and time to move on. I have been terribly hurt and in pains. Some days were horrible and I thought I will n...

Bauchi was brief and wonderful

Dear Diary, Wednesday, 3rd March 2021 5:50pm Nigerian Time 🇳🇬 March, my month. On the first day of March, I left Bauchi State for Abuja. I slept over at a hotel in Abuja. My very first time of spending the night at a hotel. Just me in the room, lonely and afraid. I was scared of many things. The things I hear happen in Nigerian hotel rooms. I actually booked a flight, but my flight was postponed so I had to take road transportation. Bauchi to Abuja took a period of six hours. From Bauchi, to Jos, to kaduna, to Nassawara and then to Abuja. The next day I took road transportation from Abuja to Calabar which took a period of eleven hours. I felt so uncomfortable with the many bad roads at the various state during the journey. So hectic. I reached my home on the second day of March around 9:50pm in the evening. I had my bath, then ate thereafter. During my stay in Bauchi, I was fortunate to meet wonderful set of individuals who served as a family. It was a wonderful experience, thou...

The suspense created at HIV/AIDs testing

Dear Diary, 11:55pm Nigerian Time 2nd March 2021 The suspense created during HIV and AIDs testing is so unimaginable. Once, I felt so terribly sick, I had to run all blood test. I did all the test and when it got to HIV testing, I was so scared. Scared of the questions being asked by the counselor. I thought I was infected, not until the result came out and it was negative. I felt relieved. I felt relieved not because I had unprotected sex or did anything. I was just too scared of running an HIV test. The thought of death do come to my mind at the mention of HIV and AIDs. People live healthy lives with it anyway, at the same time, people get scared of it. I will carry out the test again. This experience I am talking about was two years ago. It is good we undergo HIV test at least thrice or twice a year. It's always so scary, but we also have to do the test and accept the reality. Health is wealth. Stay safe and protected. Elizabeth Diaries ❤️

Dear Diary, Saturday, 27th February 2021 1:55pm Nigerian Time Today, I am grateful to all those who come online to write. Not just write, they share their write-ups with the public. I am grateful to those who share their talent, gift and knowledge with others without demanding for money or data or friendship that might lead to something else. I am grateful to Dr. Thema on Twitter. She does her work so well. I am grateful to all those who rant and ensures everyone has a voice. I love you all Elizabeth Diaries ❤️
