ART INVOLVES EVERYONE

One thing the artists do is looking beyond, reading beyond and being human. A normal person who is not skilled with critical thinking and artistic skills can't do that. So, art makes us human. This is why you see someone writes A and most of the comments look like a B. That is, something out of the point.  A lot of humans read. Many read for fun. They don't care if they understand what is been said or not, they can just go ahead and give comments. Sometimes irrelevant comments. So if a child should say, “ I was whipped by my father yesterday" or “ My teacher whipped me for going late to school." The first thing that anyone would think of is, the child is absolutely a stubborn child or the child is a bad child. But art makes us look beyond. What makes a good child stubborn? How can a stubborn child change or be able to fit into the environment he finds himself? Why do children go to school late? In my course of writing and reading, I have seen art as a field that makes...

WHY I READ BLOGS

I enjoy reading blogs. I read lots of blogs mostly personal blogs. I enjoy listening to the stories of people, how they live life and how they survived every obstacles of life. I resonate well with real stories. People who come out to talk about their daily experiences and their personal stuff. I stick to such blogs like crazy. Recently, I found a personal finance blog, MakingSenseofCent.com. I resonated so well with the stories because it is real and impactful. And I also discovered another blog, fashionsteelenyc.com. I saw her YouTube page, I watched her videos, I loved everything about her. Then I began searching for her website. I read her stories, how she started blogging, how she left her job and how she became a full-time Blogger. Since then, I have been following her blog consistently.  Just as I love writing, I love reading too. I read on things that motivate, impact and encourages me. I don't read the news or gossip due to my anxiety. I focus mainly on motivational and wh...

So grateful to Dr. Thema

Image
I won't fail to acknowledge Dr. Thema in my Diary. I love her. I love how she does her work passionately at Twitter. She saves life. And she has saved mine. Everyday, early in the morning I log on Twitter to go read what she has to say for the day. Since the day I discovered her page and followed her, I was glad I did. She talks to us in ways we understand. She mends our heart, minds and soul. So, today I give her a special place in my Diary. I found a safe space in her. Her words soothes my broken heart.  Elizabeth Diaries ❤️

Gratitude Day 15/24

Dear Diary, 26th, March 2021 8:38am Nigerian Time 🇳🇬 25 looks good on me. I am so happy and fulfilled. I am glowing. I am looking so beautiful. I am grateful to God for everything. Because everything happens for a reason. So, I don't regret of anything. Everything is for lessons. The mistakes, the failures, the difficult times and situations made me stronger, patient and wiser. I have been sad, I have shed tears. I have come across difficult years in my life that made wish for death. Times were tough. My home was not that rosy. But, I thank God for everything. Gratitude Day 13/24

Dear Diary, Friday, 19 March 2021 8:19pm Nigerian Time 🇳🇬 Fleshy cheek stares at me each time I look at the mirror. Now than before, I look so full. I glow, I shine and very happy. Maybe it is as a result of my carrot eating or a mere peace of mind and rest. I have never been this full that everyone talks about me. Stress is never a good thing. Now, I am at peace with myself.  I love myself and make my cup overflowing with love. I am enjoying my singlehood. I am enjoying my life now. So, I want to thank God for being there for me and my dear diary for giving me a space to heal myself, heal my pains and discover who I am. I thank myself also for devoting time for me. For being easy with me. For being good to me, before anyone else. For forgiving me. For being kind to me. I love myself and I will keep loving myself everyday. Elizabeth Diaries ❤️

Gratitude Day 11/24

Dear Diary, Wednesday, 10th March 2021 10:21pm Nigerian Time 🇳🇬 Dear Diary, today I am thanking God for a glowing skin and adding a little weight. I am happy and at peace with myself. I drank lots of water and took fruits consistently for five months. It is really showing in my skin and body. Today, I dropped an application letter in a school seeking for a job. I hope they take me. Yesterday I had to walk miles away from home in search of school and organisation that has vacancy. It has not been easy. Life after NYSC is definitely not easy. Looking for a job is not easy. Let me rest and be grateful for life. Tomorrow is another day. The job hustle is real. I will keep the story for some other day. May the day break. I am so tired. Elizabeth Diaries ❤️

Don't rush

Dear Diary, Saturday, 6th March 2021 10:42pm Nigerian Time 🇳🇬 I love writing at this hour. At this hour everyone is settled on bed and everywhere is quiet, except for the generator's noise. I have pretty been shocked or surprised for rushing or jumping into something. I feel, life shouldn't be rushed. Especially in moment of trauma and pains. In moment when you are hopeless and no one can comfort or fill the empty vacuum. I feel, life shouldn't be rushed in moment of trials, denial and betrayals. Life needs time. Time reveals all good things and condemns evil. Time heals just as writing heals. Life has taught me to be patient. Nothing last forever. A little time cold, a little time warmer. Things fade away so easily.  I won't rush anything. I will take my time and see what life unfolds for me. I will give myself time to be happy and time to be sad. Time to heal and time to move on. I have been terribly hurt and in pains. Some days were horrible and I thought I will n...

I have built a little part of my life through writing. I have healed through writing. I have discovered myself and purpose through writing. My self-care and love was through writing. I have been judged and condemned but I write still because I know my healing lays there.

Image
Dear Diary, Thursday, 18th February 2021 1: 48pm Nigerian Time Today I am utmost grateful to God for keeping me alive to witness my POP(Passing out parade) even though the parade wasn't observed due to wide spread of the pandemic. It is a thing of joy for me to pass out alongside my colleagues. I came, I saw and I conquered. It was a little stay, but today it seems like three years already in Bauchi State. I have a lot of good memories and wonderful stories to tell. Today is no such day. I am grateful for this opportunity of serving my father land. Long live NYSC! Long live Bauchi State! Long live Nigeria! Long live Elizabeth Diaries! ❤️

Gratitude day 3/24

Dear Diary, 29th January, 2021 2:47pm Nigerian Time Today, I am grateful for privileges. I am grateful I am blessed with two legs to walk, I am grateful that I have arms and two hands and I can use it productively. I have come this far and that's only through grace. Reaching this age has not been easy. Some point in my life I thought I would die, life was over and there was nothing left to live for. But, now that my healing begun, I feel safe. I am grateful for who I am today. Standing in front of children and imparting knowledge daily.  Elizabeth Diaries ❤️

Times

Dear Diary, 22nd January 2021 2:50pm, Nigerian Time I am sorry, I took some time away. School resumed and I resumed my duty too. I take SS1, SS2 and SS3 classes. I teach English language. This week, on Monday, I started with revision. During the Monday class, I took ten minutes out of forty minutes to interact with the students. I asked them how they spent their holiday. At first, they were so shy and couldn't say a word. They were thinking or probably depressed, because they were about to get their examination report sheets. They were scared of failing. I had to let them know that no one was failing. As I said so, they began to talk. They were able to say something. I was happy I got their attention.  The week so far is a happy one. I am happy for the new elected President and Vice President of the United States of America. Yesterday, Joe Biden lifted a travel ban on many African countries and Nigeria which is my country was one of it. I love Joe Biden, he is a leader of the...

Job hunting

Dear Diary, 14th, January 2021- Thursday 6:27pm, Nigerian Time I want to bring to your notice that I started my first CDS(Community Development Service) today. My CDS is FCCPC. Federal Competition Consumer Protection Commission. Our role is to protect consumers right. Today, I had a great day, I saw new faces and entered new places. After the meeting, I went to job hunt. I came back, sat down and began writing application letters. I was told a school is in need of an English language Teacher. I will be trying my luck. The story of being independent and having a shilling is not an easy journey. May the day break. Me after the whole process. Job hunting is really tasking.   Elizabeth Diaries ❤️

Art makes us human

Image
Nigerian Star Apple  Dear Diary, 11,  January,  2021 10:22am, Nigerian Time I have never known a person who read Art and ever remained the same again. Art makes us human. It enable us express feelings. We get to see words in silence and in every actions. And among my three siblings, I am the only one that differs. I have empathy, I am humane. I feel one's pains and silence. Sometimes, I am called crazy and abnormal for not acting as everyone else. But I don't mind. I keep being me, just the way I am. I try to do the right things at the right time, but I don't live to please people. I don't follow society and it's stereotypes. As long as I breath, I live life to the fullest, with no terms involved. I am very expressive. I express my feelings and emotions. I tell stories. I don't keep emotions to myself, I talk it out especially when such emotions are negative. I feel every emotions as it comes. I don't keep one up, then subdue the other. My negative feelings ...

It's better now than then

Image
Me on my NYSC uniform at the parade ground, Wailo Camp, Bauchi State, Nigeria Dear Diary, 5th, January 2020 11:15am, Nigerian Time Reflecting on my life, all I could say is, “It's better now than before." Few weeks to my 25th birthday and I don't even look 25. I still look like a preteen girl who hasn't completed school yet. People do compare me with their seventeen years old daughters who are still in high school. I find this really embarrassing.  At 24, I completed my University degree programme, obtained my certificate, almost passing out of my one year service to my country.  At 24, life wasn't easy but I had to keep pushing through still.  At 24, I stayed off relationship and focused on bettering myself. I don't have a boyfriend, I am just seriously single.  At 24, I taught a little boy and got paid. My first time working and being paid. At 24, I learnt how to be patient, be compassionate and empathetic through caring for others and in the period of lockdo...

That part of me; Healing my wounds

Image
Dear Diary, 3rd, January 2021 5:24pm, Nigerian Time The part of healing I love most is self-care. Giving so much time and attention to myself, relaxing, reading and cuddling, taking a break when I need it. The feeling that goes with shopping, buying a cream, new clothes, shoe, books, eating home made meals prepared with love and owning things is so wonderful. And this is where my little money goes. At this time, pains are gone and all feels like bliss. Also, I love doing things myself. Mopping the floor, sweeping, washing dirty clothes and keeping everywhere clean. I do these things willingly. I dislike being forced to work or commanded. This kills the zeal for work in me. I get turn off at any sight of abuse. I don't crawl while at it, I run because I know it negative effect and the damages it does. One may not be alive to tell the story. Self-care is like reparenting, I feel like home each time I treat myself better. I feel like home each time I pamper myself with so much love. I...
